This epic tasting event will feature her stunning line-up of mineral-driven white wines paired with small plates from Chef Sam Stymest of Sam’s Table!

That’s right, Burgundy fans! When my distributor let me know that one of my favorite producers from Burgundy was going to be in town for one night only, I couldn’t decide if we should do a class or dinner. So, I had a thought. Why not do both?!?! Join us on Friday, November 1st @ 5:30PM in the Amanti-Morristown classroom for a special event featuring winemaker Clotilde Davenne and her amazing wines paired with some tasty small plates from Chef Sam Stymest! Clotilde Davenne dubbed her 1.9 hectare plot of 25 year old chardonnay vines in Petit Chablis “Les Temps Perdu.” This was both an homage to Proust’s massive novel, and a reference to what the locals told her about the land; that it was a waste of time to work. “Why bother with Petit Chablis,” they asked. But this plot was completely in Kimmeridgian terroir, just like Chablis, it was only its exposition – western – that made it “petit.” Clotilde’s decision to go her own way and ignore the conventional wisdom is indicative of her manner of working in her vines and cellar.


She is a truly independent vigneron. Clotilde, who comes from a cattle farming family, began her wine career as chief oenologist for the well-known Chablis producer Jean-Marc Brocard. After working with Brocard for 16 years she eventually began assembling her own domain, one small parcel at a time, bottling her first vintage in 2005. Today her domain consists of vines in Chablis, Cote d’Auxerre, St. Bris – les Vignes, and Petit Chablis.

Sam’s Table: We are very excited to partner with Chef Sam Stymest, one of the most talented young chefs in the state. His “Sam’s Table” is a Montclair-based supper club offering unique 5 course tasting experiences for each event using locally sourced ingredients. Chef Sam has developed a distinctive and personal culinary vision, and with the help of Giovanna and Trey managing the guest experience, it feels like you’re being hosted in a good friend’s home. Combining their talents with the dynamic of communal dining, each dinner is one-of-a-kind and memorable. It’s no wonder that Sam’s Table has developed a loyal following.
